Block 2 – Factors influencing product design
Designing products is at the heart of what the media industry does.
The process involves a lot of different things, and this section of the syllabus is the longest by far. It's broken down into:
- 2.1 the purposes of media products and how this impacts style
- 2.2 client briefs
- 2.3 audience segmentation and demographics
- 2.4 research methods
- 2.5 media codes
The media codes section contains a lot of information which you'll have covered in your portfolio units. The idea of a media code is actually really easy once you get your head round it.
